Peek-a-Boo

They say that babies need to spend time on their tummies to help develop their muscles. Ethan HATES his "tummy time." So, we need to do things to keep him occupied to help him forget that he is on his tummy. We found that using a Boppy to prop him up helps him be happy (and makes for some pretty darn cute pictures).

Ethan's Great Grandma Nelson - his mom's mom's mom- got this cowboy outfit for him before he was even born, and he finally is big enough to fit it. His Grandpa Morrey is sure excited to take him horseback riding when he gets a little bigger.

Even after his haircut (Ok, so it was really just a trim around the bangs and ears), Ethan still has the tuft of hair on the back of his head that just will not stay down.

He also loves to stick out his tongue and make all kinds of different noises.

And then there's...
The Pout

Just before Ethan starts to cry, he gets this pout that just looks so cute. It's sad, since he's crying, but we just can't help but smile. (NOTE: This is not quite the look we are talking about. You just have to experience it for yourself to get the full impact of it)

Ethan is growing so fast that it seems like we have to pull out new outfits every day. This one was so cute that Mommy just had to get a picture of him in it.

Ethan's First Haircut

Last night I did one of the scariest things I've had to do since becoming a parent. . . cut Ethan's hair. Whenever people meet Ethan they always comment on his hair and I didn't want to mess it up. However, I think much of the anxiety was caused by my denial that my little boy is growing up! I've been debating for weeks to go ahead and do it. I think what helped me decide to go ahead and do it was that I noticed a few of the longest hairs infront were almost down to his eyes when his hair was combed. With Kyle holding him I trimmed the front, back and around the ears. He was a bit wiggley, but it worked out pretty well. I didn't have the heart to cut anything off the top yet, especially that cowlick that almost always sticks up defying gravity and any type of gel we try to use to tame it. (Kyle and I joke that the secret to his super powers are in that tuft of hair--we are current fans of the show "Heroes"). Anyway, here is Ethan's before and after. They aren't too dramatic, but we think he looks a bit more like a little boy and less like a little baby.

A Few More...

This wasn't posed. I snapped this of Ethan one afternoon when he fell asleep on the couch next to me. What do you think he is contemplating in his sleep?
Daddy is reading Ethan his bedtime story. Tonight's story is Dr. Seuss's "The Sneetches." We just noticed that Ethan looks like one of the starbelly sneetches because he too has a star on him.
Nike should give Ethan an endorsement deal for this pose of him decked out in Nike gear.

Fun Facial Expressions

Here are a few new pictures from the last few days. He has given us some fun looks and sweet smiles lately. He also is really enjoying his new mobile.

Ethan's shirt says "Future Mr. Right." With that charming smile, who wouldn't love him!

2 Months of Ethan

Ethan is two months old today! We are so blessed to have him in our family. He is such a sweetie!! Not a day goes by where we don't have this little guy melt our hearts and make us laugh. It has been a busy day for us. Ethan had his 2-month checkup and his shots. He handled them pretty well, though we felt for the little guy. He screamed his guts out when given the shots, but was calm and sleeping not long after. He did give us a funny surprise this morning. When I went in to feed him this morning, he was laying in his crib sucking his little thumb. We've caught him throughout the day making attempts to suck his thumb. We look forward to all the new ways he will surprise us this month.
