Racing Buddies

We visited some of our neighbors earlier today and Ethan and Brooklyn had a lot of fun sitting in a go-kart they had there. Ethan even 'drove' home - when told that he couldn't turn on the go-kart he said, "that's OK, I'll just use my imagination."
(Sorry about the cruddy cell-phone pics...)

While we were visiting, Jen saw something on Brooklyn's finger. Jen asked Brooklyn what it was and Brooklyn replied, "booger!" We had no idea she could say that word. At least she didn't try to force-feed it to anyone (as she's been known to do).
Earlier this week we found Brooklyn riding around on a hander, pretending it was a horse. She was saying, "neigh, neigh" and waddling around the house sitting on the arms of the hanger with the hook sticking out from between her legs. It looks like both of our kids have very vivid imaginations.

More Booties

Here are a couple more recently finished booties. They've been fun to make and fun to give away. I only have the boots left (which I finished last night). I think they are my favorite so far.

These boots mark the 6th pair of booties/shoes that I've made (not including some doll sized ones I made for Brooklyn's dolly). I feel like I've been able to whip them out pretty quickly, though, I think I need to slow down a bit since my right hand is starting to feel tired and overworked (even typing I can feel that my hand isn't quite itself). :(

Kyle's been working a whole lot of overtime the last few days. He went to work at 6 am yesterday and didn't get home until 1 am this morning. He'll be working today and tomorrow although they are days off too. I'm so glad that this doesn't happen very often.
They kids and I had lots of fun picking some of the first of our peas yesterday. We're so glad that Ethan still likes them. He loved them last year, but was quite hesitant to try them again this year (and won't eat frozen peas anymore). We have to keep a close eye on Brooklyn while we are in the yard so she doesn't rip out whole plants. We've already had several casualties this year. She loves to snack on lettuce and spinach by herself too. It is so fun to have such eager helpers in the garden. We are really looking forward to this summer with the kids. They are both at such fun stages!
Now I think I should give my hands some rest.

Cutie Booties

Jen has been teaching herself to crochet over the last few weeks (thanks, Christin, for the pointers). These are some of the cute baby booties that she's made in the last two weeks. No, Jen is NOT pregnant. Sorry Grandma(s).

Ethan and Brooklyn have been having a blast in the yard with this nice warm weather. The other day they were helping Dad "fix" the sprinklers. Ethan is responsible for how Brooklyn looks in this picture - he was having fun "painting" her. We're afraid the dirt will never completely come out of their clothes.
We had an unexpected surprise yesterday when we went to the grocery store: The carousel outide of the store was constantly running. We put the kids on for a few minutes and, Despite Brooklyn's bored look here, they had a blast.

Last week Ethan decided super heroes need gloves as part of their "super suits." Since we don't have gloves that are his size, he came up with his own solution. He insisted that he wear them while he ate dinner. The really frustrating part is that whenver he get's a drop of water on it (or any other article of clothing, for that matter) he flips out and needs to get a dry one. Ok, we admit that we're gettng really tired of making a new mask for Mr. Incredible, or Dash, or Frozone, or Super Why, etc. every time one rips. We also learned that he doesn't really care what his mask looks like. Here he is as Frozone. Jen wouldn't let him wear it to the store.
