Happy Birthday, Kyle!!

Today we celebrated Kyle's 27th birthday. I made Kyle a German chocolate cake, not nearly as time consuming or as fancy as Ethan's cake a few weeks back, but he didn't mind. It is a big cake for the three of us, so if anyone wants to come and visit us in the next few days...

We had a fun Easter weekend last week. We traveled up to Logan just for Easter Sunday. Unfortunately we forgot our camera (which is one of our excuses for not posting last week). It was a busy day rushing around to visit family. It was a really busy week for us. Kyle was spending countless hours locked away in our office doing homework all week, and it will probably continue this week as well.

In the meantime, Ethan has kept me busy. He has gotten really good at walking and is now running at times. The other day I left him in his room for a few minutes to sneak away to check my email. After a few minutes I realized that things seemed a bit too quiet. This usually means Ethan is up to something. I found him in the bathroom with the jar of Vaseline. He had it caked all over his hands . Fortunately I caught him right as his was lunging for the bathroom cabinet. He then rubbed his hands into my sleeve. Not long after, I laid down on the couch for a few minutes to shut my eyes. Ethan was playing innocently with the broom, like always and felt I was safe to shut my eyes for a few minutes. I believe only a few minutes had passed when I opened my eyes to find that he had gotten into our potted plant and scooped handfuls of dirt all over the rug!!It seems that now we can't even leave him for a minute without trouble. We fear that we've only seen the beginning of what is to come.Ethan has had a few more experience with sugar since his birthday, and seemed to really enjoy Dada's cake.
Kyle's mom and sister visited us yesterday and took us to lunch for Kyle's birthday. They brought Ethan a plastic rake and shovel. They are his new favorite toys. Since yesterday he has constantly been carrying them around the house. In fact, the rake was the first thing he went to when he woke up this morning. It will be fun to let him play with them in the yard when the weather gets warmer again. Ethan has hated being cooped up in the house the last few days it has been stormy. If he could he would live outside 24/7. He always gets upset whenever it is time to come back inside. This should be a fun yet interesting summer!

Ethan's Triumph

The Morrey family has been enjoying the fine weather we've had this week, with the exception of the rain this weekend, and have been busy cleaning up our yard. It is amazing how many leaves and twigs can accumulate over the winter from the wind when you have nearly 60 trees in your yard, which will soon be reduced significantly. We plan on putting in some raised beds for our garden, and also taking out a strange flower bed that the original owners put in. It is a large round bed that apparently was supposed to represent the world and the wife would plant and trim plants to look like the continents. This is what we found out from our neighbors, and they will be happy to see it go too. We will shortly be replacing it with grass.

Ethan has absolutely loved the time we've spent outside. He can get around a lot better than he could in the fall, but still likes to eat dirt. There have been times he's been caught sucking the mud off of rocks. Yum! He loves exploring the yard and going on stroller rides around the neighborhood. Whenever we say "Go outside?" he gets so excited. He also will point and grunt at his stroller whenever he sees it. Jen took him to the park near our house this week and he had fun on the slides and swings. He even got excited when he saw a dog.

This post is probably boring to everyone except his grandmas. To make the post a little more interesting to everyone else, we've included some exciting footage of Ethan. Enjoy!!

Happy Birthday Ethan!!

We celebrated Ethan's first birthday on Saturday in Logan with our families. We had so much fun!

Here is a picture I took of Ethan to send in to "Good Things Utah" for their birthday babies. I didn't have much to choose from because the smile quickly turned to tears when mom wouldn't let him have the camera.

I had lots of fun making Ethan's birthday cake. It is supposed to be a rubber ducky in water with bubbles.

We expected Ethan to really make a mess and tear into his cake. (Yeah, I wanted him to get the head and I got to decapitate it). He isn't used to having sweets other than graham crackers. Later that evening, he even threw up. Poor kid! He wouldn't even touch his ice cream. Here he his playing with his new toys. His cousin Brian helped him learn how they worked. Brian also helped him open some of them and helped him blow out his candle. Thanks Brian!!
Brian also pushed Ethan around in his new dump truck.

I tied a helium balloon to the mailbox to help people find the party. It started snowing and buried the balloon. We thought this was pretty funny.
