Eviction Notice

Today is the due date and still no baby. We've been packed for three weeks. I've been dilated four centimeters for a week now and yet she still refuses to leave the womb. We decided to give her an eviction notice last week. We scheduled an induction for Thursday if she doesn't come out on her own. I really don't want an induction, but was going crazy not having an end in sight. It is especially hard when it is difficult planning what to do with the other child you have at home and family isn't too close by.

This was an eventful week. Kyle's youngest brother, Michael, returned home from his mission on Thursday and met Ethan for the first time (sadly we didn't get any pictures). We were a little crazy and traveled to Logan on Sunday to hear him speak about it and were grateful we could be there. We were happy that we didn't have a roadside emergency, but had interesting conversations of what it would be like to have a police escort to the hospital like they do in the movies. We were tempted to leave Ethan in Logan with his grandma since he'll be spending time with her when we are in the hospital, but I couldn't imagine the possibility of several days by myself just waiting for baby to come while Kyle was at work. Besides, Ethan hasn't ever spent a night away from us before and even though he adores his grandparents, we don't want to make the separation longer than needs be.

I'm still holding out and hoping that baby will come today, though I hope labor won't begin until at least noon. Kyle has an exam this morning that he would be happy to miss if I went into labor, but once he starts he cannot really stop in the middle of.

So, if anyone has any creative ideas or things they've heard will safely induce labor, they would be fun to read and tempting to consider at this point. I've already heard of castor oil (which I've read can have some terrible side effects and I'm not desperate enough to try), eating pineapple or spicy foods, brisk walks (which I have been doing), full moons, changes in barometric pressure, and a few other things I won't mention.

I was so looking forward to posting pictures of our little pumpkin this week, but since she isn't here yet, here is the very last comparison picture featured on babycenter.com: Our baby is estimated to be the size of a small pumpkin. The average size of a newborn is 7.5 lbs and 20 inches long. Hopefully our next posting will come soon and before Thursday.

If anyone wants to change their guesses on when the baby will come, feel free. Everyone was so kind to not guess past the due date.

We'd also like to send out a happy birthday shout to Michelle, Aunt Annette, and our nephew Jackson. Today is a popular day for being born.

That sweet little girl of yours should jump in on this popular birthday! I've known several people who swear that foot massages have brought on labor. There's special parts of the back of your foot -- I'd just google it. And if it doesn't work, it's still a foot massage. Good luck!

Hurry up and have that baby, will ya? I can't wait to get my hands on her for some photos! :)

I hope it all goes smoothly for you and that you won't have to wait too much longer!

I hope that your baby comes soon! Try stressing yourself out to the max (emotional stress, if possible). Overload yourself with an impossible amount of tasks and think of something that makes you really sad or really mad. I swear - that's the thing that made my daughter come two weeks early! That and REALLY LONG walks. Good luck! :)

I'll give you another guess for baby's arrival: labor to begin Wednesday around 11 am, baby no later than 5 pm. Try a swing or trampoline. Also, try those things you won't mention on the blog (the safe ones) :)

It's all reverse pychology really. You just have to pretend that you don't want the baby to come yet. Keep saying it over and over again, babies still in the womb are quite gullible and will believe you even if you don't have the right inflection in your voice. Did I mention that you have to use words that a not-quite born baby can understand. I've heard it's a particular combination of goo and gaa and other consonants, but I'm not quite sure the correct combination.
